Chasing 24 Carrot Gold
Chasing 24 Carat Gold from Jonathan Jones aka Redbeard on Vimeo.
The film is set in Bolivia, Chasing 24 carat gold – Golden Dorado.
We set out deep in to the jungle, in search of this golden monster. I spent over 8 weeks guiding several groups up and down the Casare River, Pachene River and its several tributaries. After a few days travel up stream, we had made it to base camp and it was from here that the real journey began. These fish live in one of the most amazing jungles in the world and love to hide out in tight and fast moving water that the rivers provide. They hit hard and fight back adding to the excitement of this life changing adventure. In total isolation (no iPhones or instagram) the vast amount of wild life and adrenaline between anglers seems more real than ever.

January thinking about Summer
I saw this post today on Instagram and had to share, of a massive brown trout eating a big foam fly. Something about waking up to single digit temperatures, makes me thinking of dry fly fishing. Maybe it’s when you can’t have something, you just want it more. Summer can’t get here soon enough.
Big Brown Pic of the Day
Kean fishing in Chile this week just sent us this picture of an impressive 23″ brown trout. Kean continues to believe in the luck of the Mangled Fly Camo hat. (now in two shade of camo) Nice fish Kean and glad the camo hat gives you a little extra confidence .
Happy New Year!
2016 was a good year to be an angler in Michigan. I was going through some of my fishing images and found a few that liked. I thought I would share them in this post:
This image was a foggy morning on a lake rumored to have muskies in it. Although I caught a lot of pike and bass, the muskies proved to be elusive.
This is one of my favorite lakes in Michigan. I fished it in September for a couple of days. It never fails to rain when I fish here, and soon after this very scenic moment, I was drenched.
Steelhead are so beautiful, and so majestic. This one put up a tremendous fight in early November!
I hope you enjoyed the photos! Good fishing to you in 2017!
