Chasing 24 Carrot Gold
Chasing 24 Carat Gold from Jonathan Jones aka Redbeard on Vimeo.
The film is set in Bolivia, Chasing 24 carat gold – Golden Dorado.
We set out deep in to the jungle, in search of this golden monster. I spent over 8 weeks guiding several groups up and down the Casare River, Pachene River and its several tributaries. After a few days travel up stream, we had made it to base camp and it was from here that the real journey began. These fish live in one of the most amazing jungles in the world and love to hide out in tight and fast moving water that the rivers provide. They hit hard and fight back adding to the excitement of this life changing adventure. In total isolation (no iPhones or instagram) the vast amount of wild life and adrenaline between anglers seems more real than ever.
Patagonia 8K Video
PATAGONIA 8K from Martin Heck | Timestorm Films on Vimeo.
Patagonia 8K explores the beautiful and rough landscapes of southern Chile and Argentina. Shot in 8K resolution on a medium format camera it’s aimed to deliver the most realistic experience.
Shot in 6 weeks, travelling over 7500km from Santiago to Punta Arenas we captured roughly 100.000 still frames that combine into this timelapse video.
January thinking about Summer
I saw this post today on Instagram and had to share, of a massive brown trout eating a big foam fly. Something about waking up to single digit temperatures, makes me thinking of dry fly fishing. Maybe it’s when you can’t have something, you just want it more. Summer can’t get here soon enough.
Big Brown Pic of the Day
Kean fishing in Chile this week just sent us this picture of an impressive 23″ brown trout. Kean continues to believe in the luck of the Mangled Fly Camo hat. (now in two shade of camo) Nice fish Kean and glad the camo hat gives you a little extra confidence .
Happy New Year!
2016 was a good year to be an angler in Michigan. I was going through some of my fishing images and found a few that liked. I thought I would share them in this post:
This image was a foggy morning on a lake rumored to have muskies in it. Although I caught a lot of pike and bass, the muskies proved to be elusive.
This is one of my favorite lakes in Michigan. I fished it in September for a couple of days. It never fails to rain when I fish here, and soon after this very scenic moment, I was drenched.
Steelhead are so beautiful, and so majestic. This one put up a tremendous fight in early November!
I hope you enjoyed the photos! Good fishing to you in 2017!
Puff Junkie
Been a Puff Junkie (somebody that wears Puff / Down everyday during the fall-spring season), having layers of Puff for my upper and lower body. I have an addiction to these types of insulation and thus buy a few new layers of puff every year.
Even though Patagonia has the best return policy in the industry for their clothing, I still have clothing that has worn out it’s welcome. I wanted to recycle a few. Europe has a very cool recycling program for down (video below), that Patagonia is already using. I couldn’t find a similar program so far here in the USA. But Patagonia would take my old layers and make sure they are recycled, if I simply mailed them to Patagonia. If you are a Puff Junkie address to Patagonia below, to recycle your garments.
How to Recycle Patagonia Garments
Patagonia products for recycling, and the process is easy. While they encourage you to find a new home for any garments or items that are still useable, any Patagonia product that has reached the end of its useful life may be sent back to them to be recycled or repurposed. Simply wash the items first and use one of the following collection methods:
1. Mail them to the Patagonia Service Center at
Patagonia Service Center
8550 White Fir Street
Reno, NV 89523-8939
2. Drop them off at the Patagonia Retail Store nearest you or at a participating Patagonia dealer – ideally, while you’re running other errands, to reduce environmental impact.
Please note: Recycling your old clothes is voluntary. If you choose to recycle, you’ll gain the satisfaction of knowing that your old Patagonia clothing will not end up in a landfill or an incinerator.
Updated Design and New Colors
- A new color of Digital Camo Mangled Fly Hat is now in stock. The popular Sand Digital Camo from this summer has a new partner. The New color has a little green in the design and is overall a dark shade.
- Also added a different design to the Stocking Cap. Went with the classic logo now. We still have both the Fish Hook Design and Now the Classic Logo in stock. Both stocking caps/ beanie’s are the same fleece lined stocking caps, that is one of the warmest stocking caps that I’ve worn. With Mother Nature looking like she is going be playing business this winter, make sure you stay warm when you head out.
