Patagonia New Short Film

Film is about 27 minutes long, this email below I received from Patagonia and thought I would share.

Worn Wear is an exploration of quality – in the things we own and the lives we live. This short film takes you to an off-the-grid surf camp in Baja, Mexico; a family’s maple syrup harvest in Contoocook, Vermont; an organic farm in Ojai, California; and into the lives of a champion skier, a National Geographic photographer, and a legendary alpinist. It also features exclusive interviews with Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard.

Released as an antidote to the Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping frenzy, Worn Wear is an invitation to celebrate the stuff you already own.

If you agree with the message in the film, we would love your help sharing it. Starting today, please share this link to the Worn Wear film on all of your social media networks and tag your post #WornWear: http://wornwear.patagonia.com

Secondary tags include #BetterThanNew, #BlackFriday and #AntiBlackFriday.

Alternatively, you can share Patagonia’s post announcing the film on Facebook, Google+, Twitter and Tumblr. On Instagram, dig out that classic old photo of yourself, or your friend, in a well-loved Patagonia item and post it with the #WornWear tag.

On Black Friday, select Patagonia Retail Stores across the country will be hosting Worn Wear parties. Please join us at one of the parties to watch the film, taste our super-secret limited edition beer, learn how to repair your old Patagonia gear with iFixit, and enjoy live music. Black Friday Party details at: http://wornwear.patagonia.com

Thank you so much for your help. I wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving.

New Go Pro Studios

With an off day today from the river, did my usual run around, and then caught up on emails, and household chores.  One of the emails I had in that long scroll of inbox was from GoPro, with a link to the new studio download.  The new studio is a definite upgrade.

  • NEW GoPro Edit Templates make it easy to create GoPro-style videos
  • NEW Trim, edit and mix video clips
  • NEW Add titles, music, audio tracks and more
  • NEW Fisheye adjustment control
  • NEW Adjust video playback speed for fast or slow motion
  • NEW Export video still frames at full resolution

So I took the new software for a quick spin.  The GoPro Studio is by no means as good as FinalCut but for just looking and doing a quick edit of some GoPro footage it does some really cool stuff.

I really liked the fact that I could export still images from video.  Below is an example, as we continue to play around with the Muskie footage we shot this past month.  Also another great feature is playing with the fisheye adjustment.  Haven’t tried that but plan on it.  Anyway check out the download if you self edit.  Link is above.

Little more taste

Here is a pic from Erik that gives you a little more taste of what we are working on, as I tried to talk about in a earlier  post.  Great picture from Erik Rambo enjoy.

New Trailer: Waypoints

Brown Trout Feeding Video

Here is a little lesson for you to learn.  You know those patterns that you fished last year that you put back in your box.  Make sure to check the hook closely.  As this trout taught us, after we hooked him, he made quick work of us and lost him,  because the hook did not make it.  This guide standby pattern had rusted out through the winter and was too weak to land a nice trout eating sulphurs.

Goshawk Video

If you follow the site you know I enjoy taking pictures of birds of prey, this Goshawk video is amazing.  Imagine this bird chasing it’s prey down through the woods, thank goodness this bird has not grown any larger to chase down humans.

May Dry Fly Video

Worked with Chuck Hawkins yesterday and taped a couple video’s that we just posted on our Hawkins Youtube channel.  Did work separating audio from video and inserting photo’s inside the video to display detail.  Working with audio is not an easy as it sounds, but enjoy the video and hope it helps bring to light how good May dry fly fishing can be.

Really cool Editing

As I continue to learn how to be better at photography, videography, and editing.  Best way to learn is practice, but second best way is to watch the pro’s.  There are some shots in this video that I have not seen before, pretty cool stuff here.  Thought I would share.
