Rivers of Sand by Josh Greenberg

I was just giving a copy of a new book called “Rivers of Sand” by Josh Greenberg.  And I can’t wait to start reading this.  Pick up your copy at your Local Fly Shop.  If your local fly shop doesn’t have it contact Josh Greenberg at Gates AuSable Lodge, he will send you a copy.

Looks to be a great book that will help the reader understand the unique techniques needed to fish the waters of Michigan.  I look forward the read over the summer months.  Thank you Josh for giving Michigan some national coverage.  Some of the most alluring waters in America.

Streamers and New Hat

Kean O. beating up on the brown trout with some baitfish streamer action, also sporting a New Mangled Fly Media baseball cap.  Been personally wearing my new cap for a couple weeks, did take a little while to break in, but have to admit it’s a very comfortable hat.  Brim is about the perfect length and the dark under brim really helps with cutting glare and spotting fish.

So true about Trout fishing

“Only an extraordinary person would purposely risk being outsmarted by a creature often less than twelve inches long, over and over again.”

Pic of the Day – Loving the Blues

Cool blues on the cheek of this dry fly eating Michigan Brown Trout.  Put down the streamer rods and broke out the Scott G2 once again to capture this resectable 16″+ Hendrickson sipper.  Also every day more and more impressed with the SA GPX Sharkwave taper.  Day in and day out putting it in new clients hand this line is amazing.

Sharkwave

It’s May 8th and dry fly trout season has been off to a slower than normal start, but the limited days of dry fly fishing that I have in the Sharkwave Trout GPX has been in my boat and customers are loving it.  With Hendrickson’s popping, image below was captured this week on the Pere Marquette, and Black Caddis just around the corner time to go #liveanddiebythebigdryfly

Going for trout and Mr. Steelhead showed up

Stripping streamers for trout and Mr. Steelhead wanted some.  A nice surprise for Wayne today as we fished the Pere Marquette.  Great job Wayne battling this guy on your trout gear.

Pic of the Day – San Juan Worm

Had to get down and dirty on the Upper Manistee, with a slower than normal couple days of trout fishing.  Had to bust out all the tricks.  Have honestly not thrown the worm, the san juan worm, since my Colorado days some 15 years ago.  Used to fish the worm on the Upper Colorado River on my days off.

Bobber Down!

Getting down and dirty with a worm imitation on the upper manistee.
